6 PLANNING STUDENT ACTIVITIES (TIMETABLING)
A working group has been established to guide the merged college in establishing the most efficient
systems and operation practices to ensure that what will be a very large and complex curriculum is
scheduled and planned in the most efficient and effective means possible. Steps undertaken to date are:
• Establishment of a core group of experts drawn from the three partner colleges
• Development of a merged database of existing schedules incorporating staff and physical
resources; programmes and activities and student groups. This will serve as a 'test bed'
environment from proposed changes.
• Review of available systems is underway and a cost benefit analyses will be undertaken to ensure
that any new or extended MIS best matches the needs of the enlarged institution.
