Paul Little, Principal of
Central College, has
been appointed Principal
Designate for New College
Glasgow. Following
a two to three month
selection process, this
key appointment was
announced on Wednesday
16th December.
Eric Tottman-Trayner,
Chair of the Shadow
Board, said; "The Shadow
Board is delighted that
Paul Little has accepted
the post of Principal Designate for the new College,
following an extremely competitive selection process.
The appointment of the Principal Designate enables
the substantive work needed to merge the city centre's
colleges to begin in earnest. This is also a key milestone
in the successful completion of the New Campus
Glasgow project."
Paul, upon his appointment, said; "I am looking forward
to working with the excellent staff in all three of our
successful city centre colleges. It will be a real privilege
to lead this challenging three way merger and to
establish Scotland's first and possibly only Super College
and I look forward to building a team of many talents to
plan and deliver both New College Glasgow and New
Campus Glasgow. Whilst I am delighted, I realise that a
lot of work still has to be done to put together the Merger
Proposal Document."
"I am looking forward to meeting the Management Teams
in all three colleges in the New Year."
Paul has been Principal and Chief Executive of Central
College Glasgow since 2007. Prior to this appointment
he was Principal & Chief Executive of the second largest
Regional College in Northern Ireland (Southern Regional
College), and during his time there he planned and
oversaw the successful merger of six FE Colleges to create
a Super College of some 60,000 students and 1,111 staff.
He is also a Director of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce,
and participates in the City's Economic Forum.
