Appendix 4: Merger Proposal - Organisation & Learner Development
Subject to available resources the merged college will review and roll out enhanced services
including:
• Initial core skills profiling
• Individual Learning Plans
• Guidance files
• Potential use of e portfolio approaches
• Transitions toolkits for school college and FE/HE progression
• Nominated guidance tutors
• A revised set of learner entitlements
• An enhanced Learner engagement strategy
3.3 Student Support Strategy
The merged college will in the implementation phase prioritise the development of a student
support strategy requiring the following initial steps;
• Taking the best practice from all three colleges and from the sector as a whole
• Working together to ensure the most effective model for student support
• Planning college wide staff development and training as appropriate
• Identify key indicators for benchmarking and evaluation
Creation of a fully comprehensive model for supporting the learner is seen as a key measure of
success for the merged College.
4. STUDENT/LEARNER SERVICES
Student/Learner Services in each of the three Colleges have a critical role in the recruitment and
retention of potential students, and in providing an essential information, advice and guidance
