• Analyse its environmental footprint and initiate changes necessary to
improve environmental performance;
• Make members of staff and students aware of their environmental
impacts and to encourage them to develop a sustainable approach to
their work and lifestyle;
• Introduce indicators for sustainability that will enable monitoring,
reporting and continuous improvement; and
• Ensure that environmental sustainability is central to the future
development of the New Campus Glasgow Project.
Staff & Student Facilities Objectives
2.3. The new College shall aim to ensure staff and student facilities are:
• Of high quality with state of the art technology where appropriate;
• Built for long term sustainability;
• Clean, safe & secure;
• Comfortable and cost-effective to operate and maintain;
• Accessible to all students, staff and visitors and recognises the College's
obligations under its Equality Schemes;

2.4. The larger estate will provide opportunities to improve premises and room
utilisation; which could allow for improved services to students including
services out with normal business hours .e.g. evening & weekend services.
There will be a wider spread of reliable contractors and suppliers with an
increased opportunity to gain more competitive pricing.
2.5. Systems integration will result in a modernised telecommunication service for
members of staff, students and other users. The integration of CCTV systems
will provide an opportunity to improve safety and security to the benefit of all
students, members of staff and visitors.
2.6. Increased strength in depth of the estates & facilities service will improve
service delivery and assist with business continuity. For example, improved
estates staff coverage particularly during holidays and a greater opportunity to
release estates staff for training & development. There will also be new
opportunities to improve the utilisation and development of in-house
maintenance staff and campus transport services. The sharing of best practice
should improve environmental performance also.
2.7. General estates related savings arising from economies-of-scale will free up
resources to enhance services to students and members of staff.
