2.1.2 The new College will promote diversity, uphold equality of opportunity
and tackle social exclusion. The College will respond to the needs of
learners, staff and other stakeholders irrespective of age, disability,
gender, gender reassignment, race, sexual orientation, marital/civil
partnership status or pregnancy/maternity.
2.1.3 The new College will be a diverse community and the College will
value this variety and the benefits it brings to the working and learning
environment.
2.2 Current Framework Status Summary
2.2.1 All three Colleges are fully committed to equalities and have strategic
aims which promote equality of opportunity for all learners, staff and
stakeholders.
2.2.2 Sub-Committees of all three Boards of Management have primary
responsibility for implementing and monitoring diversity, inclusiveness
and equality of opportunity and each has dedicated EDI Committees
which ensure that equality is embedded in all College activity.
2.2.3 Each College has policies and procedures in place to ensure they
meet their statutory responsibilities including Equality Schemes for
Race, Disability and Gender with current action plans.
2.2.4 Central College and GCNS currently prepare individual annual reports
for Race, Disability and Gender and Glasgow Metropolitan publish a
combined annual report.
2.2.5 All three Colleges are currently working towards a Single Equality
Scheme and recognise the benefit of the Colleges collaborating on this
development using the expertise and skills of staff from across the
Colleges.
2.2.6 All of the Colleges are fully committed to staff development in the area
of Equality and recognise the importance of well trained staff who are
inclusive in their approach.
2.2.7 Involvement/consultation of learners, staff and stakeholders is
paramount in the Colleges and engagement is sought in a variety of
ways including attendance at key committees, focus groups, surveys
