preferred career.
• Assisting current students to find suitable part time employment and/or work experience.
• Assisting students who wish to progress their academic studies make application to an
appropriate university/higher education institution
• Developing students job seeking skills
• Providing students with job search facilities.
• Developing and maintaining links with external agencies.
4.1.4 Reduce barriers for prospective and current students that could prevent them from
accessing the College's services and/or continuing with their studies by:
• Advising students about the financial implications of studying full time or part time.
• Supporting students in financial difficulty via the College's Hardship Funds.
• Supporting students in crisis and with personal issues.
• Supporting the emotional well-being and mental health of students.
• Supporting vulnerable young adults and care leavers.
• Assisting international students including asylum seekers and refugees.
• Developing and maintaining links with external referral agencies.
4.2 Student /Learner Services - Benefits of Merger
An integrated service has the potential to generate significant benefits including:
• Increased service availability and dependability i.e. more staff to cover holidays, lunch
times, sick absence etc.
• Increased availability of specialist staff working within student support, offering a greater
depth of knowledge to students and allowing continuous professional development which
will in turn drive service improvements.
• Increased influence in policy consultation and advocacy in relation to student issues
particularly on funding and finance, and external pressures experienced by students.
