The range of provision which has been identii ed for the new college will of er an excellent choice of
subject provision perhaps unmatched at any other college with the opportunity to renew and upgrade
facilities which will help support students' understanding, skills and employability potential. Given its
proximity to four HEIs in the city centre, and one other within 10 miles, there will be huge potential to of er
seamless progression opportunities for students and new models of delivery on a collaborative basis.
54 The University is concerned that there will be no dedicated focus for the STEM subjects, given their
importance to the current and future economy and the opportunities that exist for students to
continue their studies in this area at a number of HEIs. The University supports any discussions to
encourage the discipline of Science to be an integral part of the new College portfolio.
It will be important for the new College management and staf to ensure that students are not
disadvantaged during the construction and relocation of resources, accommodation and staf , and the
period of rationalisation and consolidation which may take place as a result of the merger. There will be
a challenge in ensuring that students continue to receive the best teaching and learning experience
possible while the dynamics of curriculum and stai ng changes and development adapt to the
changes.
