2.5 Equality & Diversity: Benefits and Opportunities of Merger
2.5.1 The merger of the three existing colleges will create a more diverse workforce
and learner population.
2.5.2 The merged college will have the opportunity to build equality and diversity
into its business model hence moving beyond simply compliance and equal
opportunity within a social justice model. The resultant impact on
organizational culture and the skills base of staff has potential to improve
competiveness and staff/student motivation.
2.5.3 The new College will be an ideal opportunity to embed equality in to all areas
of the College operational practice drawing on existing expertise and for
visible and clear leadership in terms of equality and diversity issues.
2.5.4 Collaboration on further developments, including the Single Equality Scheme,
will ensure that expertise from across the College is fully utilised.
2.5.5 The merger will create the opportunity to make the College fully accessible in
estates, systems, procedures and learning and teaching.
2.5.6 A member of the new College's Senior Management team will have overall
responsibility for equality and diversity and will be supported by appropriately
