Jessica Nabongo
TRAVELLER, WRITER, ENTREPRENEUR,
PUBLIC SPEAKER (1984 - present)
Nabongo is a world traveller, writer, entrepreneur
and public speaker. She is the first documented
Black women to visit every country in the
world, as of October 2019. Nabongo started her
project to travel the world to help educate and
inspire others to want to experience the world.
She believes that Black and minority ethnic
group travellers are underrepresented in the
travel and tourism industry, which drives her to
present this as a valid option available. She is
also passionate about sharing experiences from
countries with very little rates of tourism. While
travelling, she writes and photographs her
adventures and shares her travel stories on her
site 'The Catch Me If You Can' and in her travel
blog on Instagram. Nabongo also created 'Jet
Black', a boutique luxury travel company which
hosts group trips and curates itineraries to
countries in Africa, the Caribbean and Central
and South America.
Clare Smyth
CHEF (1978 - present)
Being named best female chef for her own
restaurant Core at the World's 50 Best
Restaurant awards gala in Bilbao in June,
Smyth is only one of four females in the world
who run these fifty restaurants therefore there
really isn't much competition. Leaving
Northern Ireland at age 16 to become a chef
in London Smyth has shown that hard work
gets you places working with people like
Heston Blumenthal and the Roux brothers to
become the first female to work in Gordon
Ramsay's kitchen to then becoming head chef
at his Chelsea restaurant gaining three
Michelin stars and an MBE also.
