Selina Stead
MARINE BIOLOGIST (Unkown)
Stelina Stead is the Chief Scientific Advisor
for the Marine Management Organisation and
has been since 2017. She completed a PhD
in Zoology at the University of Aberdeen and
the Scottish Government's Fisheries and
Aquaculture Laboratory. After education,
Stead was positioned as Chair of the Scottish
Government's Marine Science Advisory
Board, where she became the Ministerial
Appointed Scientific Advisor to the North
Eastern Sea Fisheries. Stead has worked
within the investigation of human impact on
coral reefs and the socio-economic effects on
protected marine areas. She also continues to
focus on economic factors surrounding
government and its involvement with
development of fisheries and tourism impacts.
Ellen Ochoa
ASTRONAUT & RESEARCH ENGINEER
(1958 - present)
American astronaut Dr Ellen
Ochoa started her career as a research
engineer in 1988 before climbing to director
of flight crew operations, deputy centre
director and director of the Johnson space
centre. After being selected in 1990 to
become an astronaut to serve 4 space
missions and clocking around 1000 hours in
space and she also worked a robotic arm
that transferred the equipment and supplies
from the shuttle she travelled in to the
international space station. She was the
first Hispanic female astronaut to travel to
space. Ochoa is a gifted inventor and used
her skills and knowledge by co-developing
three patents, an optical equipment which
allowed the image quality to improve and the
data information to be more accurate from
deeper into space than they were previously
able to achieve.
