INTRODUCTION
When asked to share our female role models, many reach out to
those closest to us, putting ourselves in the centre of the picture
rather than considering women as heroes in their field.
To address this, this project reached out across City of Glasgow
College staff and students and asked for nominations of specific
names or areas where women have made a significant impact.
At this time, our students who needed to complete work-related-learning activities were
struggling with restrictions and so the
women's history research project was born. From Contemporary
Art Practice students to Photography students, a digital book was
planned to begin to address the invisible contributors to history
who are not as prominent as their male counterparts.
Very quickly the project grew and we hope will continue to grow.
This is but a starting point to a version of history we may be less
familiar with. May it continue to flourish in each of the faculties.
