Julie Larson-Green
CEO OF MICROSOFT (1979 - present)
Julie Larson-Green is a self-taught
programmer who has worked in a variety of
positions in Microsoft since 1993, most
recently as CXO of the Office Experience
Organisation. She implemented "ribbons" in
Microsoft Office 2007, which replaied the
menu-driven interface with a more contextspecific
format. She won a technical
leadership award for the implementation in
2013. She also led the efforts to work on a
new User Interface metaphor, which was
shipped as part of Windows 8 in 2012. She
was the 2015 winner of the Woman of Vision
ABIE Award for Leadership from the Anita
Borg Institute.
