2.13 Testing and Review
2.13.1 This plan will be reviewed and updated at least annually. It will also be
reviewed and updated following:
• operational, legal or environmental changes that may have an impact on
any aspect of disaster contingency planning;
• an exercise or rehearsal of any aspect of the plan that reveals failures or
deficiencies;
• Interviews with staff with operational roles in the plan to ensure that they:
o understand the plan
o understand clearly their role in the plan
o have a readily available copy of the plan
o can confirm the accuracy of factual information in the plan
• An actual emergency, if this reveals shortcomings.
2.13.2 Reviews of the plan will take into account the provisions of other
relevant organisational policies, e.g. those relating to risk management,
facilities, security and data protection.
2.13.3 Plan Drill
The Plan will be tested by means of a prearranged trial plan activation to be
held regularly. This "plan drill "may take the following approach subject to any
adjustments approved by the ELT:
1. At a predetermined time, the Principal will order the formation of an
Emergency Response Team at a given location. Potential team
members will be notified in advance of the exercise; however, the
location will not be revealed prior to the exercise.
2. The Emergency Response Team will refer to the appropriate Emergency
Response Checklists and the appropriate Emergency Action Task List
for the chosen scenario, and take whatever measures are appropriate for
the chosen scenario within the scope of the Plan.
3. The Emergency Response Team will designate an Emergency
Response Centre if required.
