Risk and Insurance
This key role of the Business Continuity Team is to deal with risk and insurance related issues.
Specific responsibilities include:
Work with insurers, brokers and loss adjusters in relation to any potential
claims.
Carry out 'horizon-scanning' activities to ensure no additional risks have
developed from the incident being managed.
Administrative Support
The successful running of an incident management response is heavily reliant upon appropriate
administrative support to the core team. Specific responsibilities include:
Set up and administer Emergency Response Centre.
Maintain log forms and display boards.
Staff the telephone lines.
Ensure refreshments are provided.
Facilities Management - Recovery Location
Assess premises needs
Assign accommodation for Departments with immediate needs
Identify likely timescales for alternate premises and communicate to
affected departments
Liaise with Local Planning and Building Control Department as necessary
Liaise with property agents
Arrange for supplies to be diverted
Liaise with IT concerning systems and telecommunication
Ensure funds made available to cover requirements
Facilities Management - Damaged Location
The emergency response team will be responsible for safety and security in the immediate
aftermath of the incident, and thereafter initial salvage and assessment of the premises condition.
The Business Continuity Team should liaise to establish the following.
What is the extent of the damage to buildings and contents?
Can any part of the location remain in use?
Are utilities operational?
What is the initial estimated time to restore the facility?
Is IT operational?
Can key equipment be salvaged?
What is the estimated time to clean / refurbish salvaged equipment?
