Consider use of a holding statement or press release - in conjunction with
Emergency Services if appropriate; Identify appropriate spokespeople
Consult with legal advisors on holding statement or press release contents as
required
Ensure that a consistent message is being given from the organisation-
develop key messages/lines to take
Arrange a press conference if appropriate
Monitor media response
Maintain awareness of changing emphasis of interests
HR Issues
Obtain injury and missing persons reports from the First Aiders and Fire
Marshals
Send representatives to hospital
If required provide Next of Kin details to Police
If appropriate, set up an emergency number for welfare issues
Assist in obtaining relocation transport for staff
Arrange hospital visits
Arrange trauma counselling as appropriate
Assess staff and student morale and assist as necessary
Support ongoing process of staff relocation/ relocation costs
Support staff and students at home as necessary
Support functional areas on human resources issues arising from the incident
Finance / Administration
Ensure staff are paid if payroll due
Sanction and draw up lists of costs incurred by recovery teams
Draw up schedule for monies due/ payable
Consider overall finance needs and seek funders' assistance
Work with Insurers and loss adjusters
Legal
The Business Continuity Team will decide whether to contact legal advisers to the College to
advise regarding any possible legal action, and respond to legal and regulatory issues.
Specific responsibilities include:
Protect employees
Protect the College from criminal prosecution.
Protect the College from potential future liability.
Liaise with ELT in relation to regulatory issues.
Provide legal sign-off to communications.
Provide guidance on employment law issues to HR and business units.
