2.7 Incident Management - Response
The ELT/SMT are responsible for the management response of the College in the
event of an incident or circumstance that seriously disrupts or threatens to disrupt the
operation of any or all of the College functions for an extended period. The following
information is designed to provide assistance for a management response in such
circumstances. The Incident Management Section is only activated where the
situation demands and is designed to ensure that actions are taken to minimise, as
far as possible, the effects of the major incident or emergency situation and ensure
timely and effective management of business recovery.

• Agree roles and responsibilities of the team during the emergency
situation
• Appoint senior administrator to review BCP, including checklists, and
ensure recording of events and communications in appropriate logs.
• Appoint one member of the Business Continuity Team as a Briefing Lead
- to act as a focal point for important information and the single source for
written briefings for Principal/spokesperson(s)
• If required revise roles and determine if additional staff/ deputies are
required.
Confirm Key Contacts at Incident Scene
• Main points of contact for ongoing information and updates of information.
Set-up Emergency Response Centre Environment
• Telephony.
• Contingency Box.
• Information Technology.
• Visual Aids.
Start Event Log and Communications Log
• Written record of significant events throughout the incident/emergency.
• Written record of all communications.
Analysis of Impact
• Use flipcharts / whiteboards etc. to capture and share known information
for analysis.
• Consideration of the scope of the problem and its implications.
