1.5 Business Continuity and Recovery
1.5.1 Following an incident, the business continuity management of any major
disruption comprises activity to respond to three challenges:
• emergency response
• incident management, and
• business recovery.
1.5.2 Following the initial emergency response to the emergency situation or
incident, the ELT/SMT Business Continuity Team will ensure that the College's
functions and services are fully restored with a minimum of disruption. Continuity of
key activities will be the responsibility of the role-based Business Recovery Teams
(BRTs) under the direction of the ELT/SMT. These Business Recovery Teams will
include members with specific knowledge and experience of the particular function
which is affected. A primary and secondary BRT Leader will be allocated for each
functional area (IT, Estates, HR, Faculty, Curriculum Area etc) as part of Business
Recovery Planning.
1.5.3 As the emergency phase concludes, the Business Continuity Team will also
oversee business recovery at the College. Site Business Recovery Teams will
invoke their procedures for the restoration of full service in consultation with FES.
The FES Facilities Management Group have responsibility for maintaining building
services for the College, and have in place a disaster recovery plan.
