SECTION 5
Options Appraisal
We have identii ed a number
of key academic and socio/
economic drivers which
are critical to the success of
the merged college. All are
important but we have
identii ed nine which, we
believe, are business critical.
We have then looked at dif erent models
(including dif erent types of federations)
and, from these, identii ed those that
might be acceptable to us all and those
which, in our view, would not.
We have then measured these (and the
"status quo" option) against the nine
business critical key drivers. From this
analysis we have identii ed the option
which, in our view, is most likely to
enable our business critical drivers
to be achieved.
We do not think that "status quo" is a
viable option for the following reasons:
Individually, we can improve student
outcomes and teaching and learning.;
Individually, we could meet
Government/SFC targets;
•
•
However, we feel that there are other
key objectives which could only
be partially achieved through
maintaining the status quo.
Our conclusion therefore is that merger
using the "fusion" model of ers the
greatest opportunity to achieve the
business critical drivers and is the most
likely to be implemented successfully.
