4. There are 22 lifts in total at the City Campus
which are located on the floor plans on
pages 22-42.
5. There are a variety of key features to keep
in your sights and to help you navigate the
building, these include:
• Level 0 entrance and grand staircase on
Cathedral Street.
• Level 2 main entrance.
• Level 2 extensive open courtyard area.
• The construction hall to the north with
viewing windows on Level 2.
• Main catering facilities on Level 2
terraced to Cathedral Street.
• The Level 6 staff coffee bar looking down
to the atrium.
• The library at the heart of the building
with open plan social learning at Level 2
and full library facilities on Levels 3 to 5.
6. Core F: There are two accessible platform
lifts which serve Level 0 up to Level 2
including the Mezzanine Level.
7. Library: Within the library there is an
accessible platform lift serving Level 4 up to
Level 5.
8. There are a variety of goods lifts throughout
the building servicing the construction
yard and deliveries to food and hospitality,
central catering, the porterage store etc.
Knowing these spaces will help orientate you
within the building.
Things You Should Know
1. The main entrance and main reception to
City Campus is on Level 2, located to the
west of the building off Allan Glen Place at the
top of the steps. There is a further entrance
on Cathedral Street at Level 0.
2. There are eight different cores or stairways
within the building and seven of these
have lifts.
3. The biggest lift lobby is situated off the
Level 2 atrium. This lift lobby is called
Core D 'central lift lobby'. This central lift
lobby has eight lifts, these lifts operate a
destination control system which optimizes
the movement of people up and down the
building by grouping them by destination.
Not all lifts go to all floors. There are four
touchpads located at the Level 2 lift lobby,
when the destination level is selected the
screen advises which lift to travel in.
City Campus is a building of some significant scale. It will take a little time for staff and
students to find the most efficient ways of navigating the building.
