Lighting & Controls
The plan shows a typical classroom lighting layout.
Lighting within the classroom is controlled by a
combination of items.
On entering the classroom the lights will be off and will
require to be switched on using the switches indicated
in the image. There are sensors within the room which
measure daylight and the absence of people.
The daylight sensor will automatically dim the lighting of
the first two rows of lights inside the blue and pink dashed
boxes to compensate for the daylight contribution to the
classroom. This can be manually changed if required by
use of switches.
The presence detector will automatically switch off the
lights after 10 minutes of continued absence. Again this
can be manually overridden via switch. You should still
remember to switch the lights off if you leave the room.
Lastly all lights within the room are dimmable in the
groups indicated by the coloured dashed box above. In
particular switch SW2 will dim the lights in the red dashed
box to allow use of imaging on the teaching wall.
Note: If the lights are switched off whilst dimmed, they will switch
back on at the dimmed level and will require to be manually
returned to full brightness via the switches.
Lighting Switch Operation (Switches)
The switch is set in the centre position. If either the top
or bottom are pushed the switch will automatically return
to the centre position on release.
To Switch ON: Press and RELEASE the bottom of
the switch.
To Switch OFF: Press and RELEASE the top of the switch.
To Manually DIM DOWN: Press and HOLD the bottom
of the switch until the desired level is set.
To Manually DIM UP: Press and HOLD the top of the switch.
Power & Data
Typically, small power & data connections are provided to
the class room via floorboxes as indicated in the sketch
above by the box with 'FB' inside it. The floorboxes are
all 3 compartment and contain a mixture of twin switched
sockets and RJ45 outlets to connect computers.
There is a dedicated cleaner's socket in every class,
generally adjacent to the door and labelled 'Cleaner'.
Where requested by the Room Data Sheets. There is
a 'last man out' power switch adjacent to the door.
This switch will kill all the power sockets with the exception
of the cleaner's socket (not lighting) to the room. The switch
will require a key to reset it.
Note: Please ensure that all electronic equipment within the room is
powered down properly prior to use of this switch.
