Our new campus has been designed with new learning
styles in mind and will be key to delivering the College's
learning and teaching strategy. The new approach
to learning and teaching is designed to respond to
the opportunities presented by the 'classrooms of
the future' and by the challenges of developments in
pedagogy, curriculum for excellence and closer links
with employers in addition to the regionalisation agenda.
The new City Learning model is already well established,
centred around more project based learning to ensure
industry relevant skills are aquired and to support the
work of the new industry academies and their closer
working links with employers. It is fundamental that the
core and soft skills required by employers are developed
by students and that their learning experience mirrors
the working environment as closely as possible.
Our new facilities combined to the MyCity platform will
help us to realise this vision through the provision of the
most appropriate spaces, the best of technology and
specialist equipment and resources set out in industry
standard environments.
City Learning
All areas of College operations whether curriculum or
support will use the new opportunity presented by our
twin campus development to innovate, improve and
streamline our operations, delivery, and our service to
students and other stakeholders.
During the planning and transition phase staff reviewed
business processes, document management, storage,
key systems and the student journey and experience.
In order that the key benefits of this project are realised
it is essential that we grasp this opportunity for quality
improvement and use our buildings as a catalyst for new
ideas and fresh partnerships. This guide therefore will
cover some of the practical elements of working within
the new building and also guide you through some of the
changes in policy which provide a framework for the new
City of Glasgow College experience. This guide provides
some practical pointers to your new office space.
