Outside Spaces
We are fortunate in the City Campus to have access
to a whole range of external spaces. The central
courtyard at the heart of the building will provide a
welcome breathing space for staff and students alike.
This is accessible primarily on Level 2 and is bordered
by the refectory and library. This will provide a useful
spill out space to enjoy a coffee on Glasgow summer
days as well as an ideal space for events and projects.
The City Campus incorporates two roof garden spaces;
one at Level 7 and one at Level 4. On Level 4 the
students within the community care curriculum area will
utilise raised beds for a variety of horticultural projects.
Following the demolition of Townhead Building, an
extensive landscaped parkland will be created with
pathways running diagonally to facilitate access from
Buchanan Bus Station and other key streets. The
temporary teaching accommodation will be removed
and the remaining site landscaped providing parking
spaces and turning point.
Whilst the new building is owned by the College, GLQ
are responsible for maintaining the building its services
and all new equipment supplied through the contract.
We must work in partnership with GLQ where we may
wish to make any changes to the building.
Alterations & Change Requests
As a rule we cannot undertake any alterations to the
building fabric or services without going through a
contractual formal change procedure. As a general
rule changes to the building structure or services and
furniture will not be considered in the first year unless
there is a clearly demonstrated curriculum or business
need for change as we must allow the bedding in and
proper use of the facility.
In due course there will be a formal procedure
developed for requesting change which will be
managed through 'Operations'. The College is able
to undertake certain derogated works such as picture
hanging and painting however such demands/requests
should still be clarified and requested through the
Operations Helpdesk.
Don'ts
• Carry out any alterations to the building or any of its
services.
• Carry out any alteration to any new equipment
supplied.
• Buy new furniture or move furniture between rooms.
Do
• Do give the designed and approved layout a chance
to work.
• Do approach Operations to seek clarification and
approval of what we can and cannot do in the
building.
