CYCLING FOR THE SCIAF ISRAEL/PALESTINE
APPEAL - 435 MILES FROM AYR TO ORKNEY
' ' WE'RE BOTH
DELIGHTED, AND
TO TOP IT OFF,
WE'VE RAISED
OVER £6,700
FOR SCIAF Katie, originally from Orkney, is raring to
go. Allan, my partner, will be following
us in the support vehicle with our dogs,
Abbie and Hector. Knowing they've got
our backs (and snacks!) keeps us going
as we hit the road.
The rain came down hard today
between Aberfoyle and Callandar.
I think we both felt it - not just
physically but mentally. There was
a moment where the road seemed
to stretch out forever, steep and
unforgiving, and the rain made the
climb feel impossible. Strangely, it
also distracted us from the rough
road. We just kept pushing, one
pedal stroke after another.
It's finally here - the day Katie (former
CH at the College) and I have been
training for. Months of early mornings,
sore legs, and cycling through rain
have all led to this. We're setting off
from Ayr today, my hometown. Our
goal is to raise as much as possible for
SCIAF's Israel/Palestine Emergency
Appeal and complete this 435-mile
journey to Orkney. It's no small feat,
but the humanitarian crisis in the
Middle East has weighed heavily on
our minds, and we knew we had to do
something.
Day 1: The Journey Begins (Fri, Jun 21)
Day 2: The Uphill Battle (Sat, Jun 22)
