A WEDDING CAKE
TO REMEMBER
W
HEN Marketing & Communications
Officer Gary Brannan and his partner
Beth were planning their wedding at the
stunning Cameron House, they knew every
detail had to be perfect-especially the cake.
For this, they turned to a familiar face in the
College community known for her exceptional
baking skills: Salome A. Oduro.
Salome's reputation for crafting
beautiful and delicious cakes
made her the ideal choice.
When recommended by
colleague Aileen O'Meara, Gary
and Beth felt confident they'd
found the right person. Salome
delivered a breathtaking threetiered cake,
featuring a light
zesty lemon sponge, vanilla
sponge, and buttercream filling.
The cake looked as beautiful
as it tasted, and it became a
talking point among guests
for its fresh flavour and sophisticated design.
"What's a wedding without a cake?" Gary joked.
Throughout the process, Salome ensured
everything went smoothly. "Beth and I didn't
really know what we wanted apart from a few
Instagram pics," Gary admitted. "But Salome
was amazing. She
helped us decide on
everything, from the size
and style to the flavour,
and made sure it arrived
safely at the venue."
Salome, who balances her role as a lecturer
and confectioner, reflected on her involvement:
"I only played a small part in Gary
and Beth's big day. I love my job and
enjoy supporting my colleagues in
any way I can." Over the years, she's
baked for countless colleagues and
events, often at a fraction of her
normal cost, or completely free,
simply to help out. "I'm just happy
to contribute when I can."
In many ways, this wedding
cake was more than just
dessert-it showed
how our
College community
always comes
together to support
one another, and
that is something
we should cherish.
