THE AUTHORS
Paul Grainger is Co-director of the Centre for Education and Work and
Head of Innovation and Enterprise for the Department of Education,
Practice and Society at University College London. Previously, he
was principal of a college in Liverpool. Originally a historian, he has
worked in vocational education, as a teacher, inspector or manager,
for most of his career, preferring the complex and composite nature
of vocational learning. In the 1990s, he chaired a RIBA committee
looking at college design to promote learning environments. His
present research concerns systems leadership, the complexities of
regional training, skills and employment patterns, the potential impact
of the fourth industrial revolution and transitions from education to
work. He is a member of the G20 Task Force on The Future of Work.
Paul Little is the founding Principal and CEO of City of Glasgow
College, consistently ranked No.1 in the UK (WorldSkills). Principal
Little has a global reputation as a tertiary thought leader and
disruptive innovator. A graduate of multiple universities, including
Harvard Business School, he is Chair of EFQM (Brussels). For the
past 32 years he has successfully led and reshaped five UK colleges,
earning a national and international reputation as a visionary reformer,
merger specialist and champion of excellence. City of Glasgow College
gained peer recognition as the top 'Beacon of Excellence' college in
the UK and Little's leadership has been recognised with the Queen's
Anniversary Award. He has written many articles, and most recently
co-authored the publication New Frontiers for College Education:
International Perspectives.(Routledge, 2018). He is a Fellow of the
Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland's National Academy.
